What’s happening with this data?
I expect this cybersecurity dataset from the Department of Health and Human Services to mature over the years. It’s a good example of what we can do with public data when it’s cleaned up properly. In this case, the data for 2020 seems a little slim, but 2021 looks pretty robust. Were there just more health care breaches overall in 2021 then in years past?
I’m going to taking a look at different free public datasets, analyze them in Tableau Public, and see what kind of questions they lead to. In this case, it seems like the big question is: what was going on with healthcare data security in Florida in 2021?
Each one of these breaches has a story and every individual record lost represents some innocent person’s medical information. I’ll do my best to be respectful of the subject matter as I explore these questions.
